IMG_1576Mohanapriya Sundaramurthy, a software engineer by profession, a chef and Carnatic singer by passion, lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, Bala.

My love for cooking started right from my childhood, where I spent most of my time after school with my mother in the kitchen. One of the first things I prepared was coffee when I was just in the 4th grade which made my mother panic quite a bit but it didn’t stop just there and I made my first samosa when I was in the 5th grade.

I am not sure if the love for cooking runs in the family, but the love for eating surely does. I grew up on some great South Indian food from something as simple as Paruppu Saadam and Appalam to my most favorite Adirasam.

My foray into other cuisines and styles of cooking began after I moved to the US. Baking was one of the first things I tried and I absolutely fell in love with it. I was like a kid in a candy store when I found that our apartment had an oven. My husband shares my love for food and we started exploring different cuisines and restaurants, and living in an iconic place for food such as Austin, one never runs out of options and our exploration for great food continues to this day. This combined love and eagerness to try great food has taken us to the best food joints in every city we have visited. Thanks to shows like The Best Thing I Ever Ate and Diners, Drive-ins and Dive that made this search a lot easier.

What I love most about cooking is the joy of sharing the delicacies with others and that is one of the reasons for starting this blog. I am all set to share some great recipes from the kitchens of my mother, my mother-in-law and my own, along with my best friend Vaishnavi. Thanks for stopping by and going through our posts.
