Cauliflower Masala

Cauliflower Masala

Cauliflower – 500 gms
Onion – 1 medium-sized
Tomato – 2
Ginger-Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1.5 tsp
Garam Masala – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Fresh Coriander – 1/2 cup

  • Chop the cauliflower and immerse the florets in hot water for at least 10 minutes
  • Grind the tomatoes in a blender and keep aside
  • Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they turn color, add finely chopped onions
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and fry
  • When the onions begin to turn brown, add the tomato puree and mix
  • Add turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala
  • When you no longer get the raw smell of the masalas, add salt and the cauliflower florets
  • Mix well and add about half a cup of water (don’t add too much because the cauliflower will release a lot of water)
  • Cover and cook for 7 to 8 minutes or till the cauliflower is cooked
  • If there is too much water, cook without a lid till it reaches the desired consistency
  • Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with chapathi
